According to statistics released by the Interior Ministry, in August there were a total of 260,810 visits from Russia. This is by far the biggest number of all nationalities visiting Georgia. However, visiting casinos is rarely a part of the trip for Russian nationals, making up only for 2-5% of visitors in Batumi casinos. The biggest player visitor group is Turkish nationals.
The president of Adjara Casinos Association, Shota Amiranashvili comments on this situation: “There are rarely any tourists from Russia who enjoy visiting casinos. Arrivals from Russia are usually young people or families with children. So naturally these are not our prime customers.
