The number 4 in Сhina when pronounced sounds like the word “death”, which has created a negative connotation for this number, and has been traditionally considered an unlucky number in Asia. It is often found that in China, Korea and Japan the buildings do not have a 4th floor.
This negative perception of number also extends to casino games, especially so in Baccarat. No player would sit at the 4th player position, and that is why it is missing from casino tables in Asia, or inside “Astar” casino in Batumi (which is owned by asian investors). The player position is replaced with a royalty “crown” symbol instead.
